Apple has improved, but the key is missing
Apple has improved on a marketing level, but not on a practical level. And it is something that is curious to me, because the company has always boasted of the opposite. Perhaps they were not the most innovative mobiles by including a specific feature, but they could boast of having an influence on people’s day-to-day lives, for example, with almost perfect operation, and offering users features that really benefit. But this is not the case with the iPhone 7 Plus. A dual camera includes, but lacks other key features. Water resistance, but we do not see improvements when it comes to charging the battery. In short, these are 4 features that are present in many Android phones and that are not present in the iPhone.
1.- microSD card
I think anyone will have remembered this feature. Apple would not have easy to integrate the possibility of expanding the memory by means of a microSD card. They have not included this possibility for a long time. Never, in fact. This greatly limits the mobile options. You can’t expand the memory in a smartphone that could, they claim, be a near-professional camera for recording video and taking pictures. Of course, perhaps it is that iOS was not designed to work with an external memory and this would have many technical complications for Apple. This itself led Samsung to remove this possibility from one of its past flagships. However, this year they have managed to solve this problem to even improve and be able to incorporate a high-speed internal memory and work with a more standard external one. That is improving and solving problems. Meanwhile, with the iPhone 7 Plus you will have to settle for its 32 GB of its cheapest version, or exceed 1,000 euros to have a memory of 128 GB.
2.- RAW camera with manual controls
There are photographers who think that buying an iPhone 7 Plus with a high-quality camera could make them do without a professional-level compact, for example, and that this justifies the expense on the mobile. Well, I would, if I gave you the options of a professional camera. Perhaps the biggest shortcoming is that we will not be able to take RAW photographs. The files in this format are files that save all the information captured by the sensor, and they give us many options to edit the photo without losing quality. The iPhone 7 Plus comes with an improved, dual camera, and other novelties, but it does not allow us to take photos in RAW, nor does it include manual controls. This may come with a new version of the operating system, but in any case right now it is a very important deficiency.
3.- Quad HD screen
A 5.5-inch Full HD screen, that’s what comes integrated into the iPhone 7 Plus. In my opinion, something typical of two generations ago. Well, in my opinion no, it is that the iPhone 6 Plus already had this screen. And many Android mobiles for years. In fact, when today we talk about a mid-range mobile, which is not one of the best on the market, we usually talk about a Full HD screen. There are mobiles with prices lower than 200 euros that have a screen with this resolution. I think there would be nothing but a great novelty a Quad HD screen. A 4K screen might have been impossible, although that would have been surprising, and perhaps a price of almost 1,000 euros would have justified a little more.
4.- Quick charge
Although honestly, for me the great lack of all this is in the fast charge. The smartphone comes with a battery that is not capable of charging at high speed. After trying many different smartphones, I have come to the conclusion that I even prefer the possibility of charging the mobile quickly before having a battery of the very high capacity. That is why I think it is so important. And it is not present in the iPhone 7 Plus. We no longer talk about wireless charging, which would not be bad, but we did not ask for it either. With a quick charge, it would be enough. Present in mobile phones up to the basic range with Android, it seemed to me a great lack in the iPhone 7 Plus.
