Access remote files on your mobile with Pushbullet

There are many ways to connect our computer and our smartphone. One of the most popular options is Pushbullet, which allows us to see notifications from our mobile phone. However, this tool has more options, including the ability to access remote files from our devices.

Configuring Pushbullet to access remote files

The first thing you need to do is install Pushbullet on your Android phone. You can do it from the Play Store using the following button:

Pushbullet - SMS on PC and more

Once you have completed the installation process, you must log in to your PC with the same account as on your mobile. On your computer you can choose to download the program or use the web version.

In the Android app, go to the hamburger menu on the left and go to Settings. Check the box Remote access to files and go back to the Burger Menu. Enter the Remote Files option and click on Enable.

Once this is done, you will have finished the configuration, so you have to check if it has been executed correctly. Go to your desktop version of Pushbullet and select the Remote Files option from the menu. Devices with the option activated will appear and those that are connected to the Internet will be highlighted. Click on your phone. After a small load, you will be looking at an integrated file explorer that will allow you to navigate through the different directories and folders of your terminal.

It only remains to search for the files you want to access. Find the folder where it is located and click on it. A contextual menu will appear with the name of the document and two options: Request and Cancel. Click on Request and the file will begin to upload to your computer. Once the upload is finished, a Pushbullet notification will notify you of this and the file will appear in the lower area. Click on it and you will already be seeing it on your computer.

It is not the fastest process during the upload, but yes one of the most complete when it comes to accessing your mobile files without going through another service such as Dropbox or Google Drive. It should be noted that this is not only used to connect your mobile and your PC, but other mobiles with each other. If you want to access the files on your PC from your smartphone, it will only be possible by downloading the corresponding version, not from the browser. Another option would be to use Portal, the other tool from the Pushbullet team.
