Apps to not miss the iPhone

It has been four years since my change from the apple platform to the wonders of the green android, and although I liked and still like Android more, at first there were certain things that I missed about my iPhone. I’ll tell you how I solved it.

Notes

I use notes a lot, a lot in fact, and the iPhone notes system was very comfortable: I wrote them down on my phone and then I could access them from any computer with my iCloud account. At first, with the notes that came by default on my phone, I didn’t feel comfortable because I only had them on the phone, and I’m a user of being mostly in front of the computer. So I looked for alternatives.

Evernote

Searching I tried several until I came across Evernote. Evernote solved part of the problems for me, since I could already access my notes from my PC, and not only that, but it also allowed them to be sorted into categories and with an intuitive interface. It also added functionalities such as being able to put audios or images (it came from iOS 7, where you still couldn’t put any type of multimedia on the notes), and I used it for a long time.

Google Keep

But with Evernote, it was not the same as with iOS, the app is very comfortable, but it is much slower (not that it is slow, but sometimes I need immediacy) and you need an Internet connection (that was a more determining factor) . Not exactly what I was looking for. Until i met Google Keep. And now it may seem obvious, since now everyone knows her, but I did not know him at the time and this made the search end. Plus now it comes installed on most devices.

Google Keep is not as interface-friendly as Evernote, nor do you have as many organization options (although you do). But it’s fast, immediate, and you can use it without the Internet and it syncs when you connect. Just like the iPhone notes app. You can also create lists, anchor notes, change their color. In general it is a very complete app and although it has its shortcomings, I do not miss any other app for the same purpose.

Music

If you use Apple MusicDon’t worry, you can also use it on Android. If you use the default music player in iOS we are sure that the Android one will also convince you, I went from using the iPhone to the default one on my Huawei without problems, but of course, it all depends on the manufacturer. But if the manufacturer only includes Google Play Music or you don’t like its player, we give you some alternatives.

Spotify

Spotify it is already a classic without a doubt. It is possible that you already have a Spotify account or that it is your default music app, in this case you only need to Download on Android and start your account. And to enjoy! If this is not the case, you only need to download it, create an account and you already have thousands and thousands of songs, yes, you have to know that the free version is very limited for mobile devices. Your Premium rate is € 10 per month.

VLC Media Player

If you don’t know it, or you only know its PC version, you will see that the options with this player for Android are endless. If you are one of those who prefers to have the music file to have it yourself whenever you want and on any device, or you are one of those who enjoy flac audio, you will like being able to use this player.

VLC Media Player is an open source player where you can play videos or music in almost any format, with many options for playback and use. Test it! I’m sure you’ll like it!

Cloud or AirDrop

I personally was not a regular user of iCloud, the Apple cloud and AirDrop did not use it either since I do not have any other Apple device. But in case you are a user of these services, we bring you options to replace it without much trouble.

For automatic photo backup: Google Photos

It seems absurd, doesn’t it? If you go to Android you use Google Photos, well, not everyone uses it. Google Photos create a backup of your photos so you can access it from any device, your tablet, your computer or other mobile. You can also use it as your default gallery app, and although there are people who believe that it is not a good gallery app, if you tinker a little, you will see that it is the best there is.

Perhaps you are already a user of these platforms, but in case we do not tell you. All more or less fulfill the same function They are clouds with great usability options. Each one has its rates or its free versions (except Amazon Drive, which comes with Amazon Prime and you have to pay to have it, there is no free version).

In its initial and most basic versions Dropbox offers you 2GB, Google drive 15GB and Amazon Drive 5GB but unlimited photos. Then each one has its rates, you choose what you prefer.

AirDrop: Telegram

Wait, isn’t Telegram a messaging app? Right! But if you want a fast, unlimited and free cloud, Telegram is the best option.

Although it may seem strange, Telegram offers unlimited cloud when sending files or messages to yourself. You will only have to access “Saved messages” and you can send the files uncompressed, it is fast, simple and you can also access it from your PC. Yes, you will not be able to organize it, you will have it all as messages.

As a curiosity, this is the app that I use to send me the captures that I take for Android Help, so I can send them and access them quickly while writing.

It is what would be more similar to the speed of AirDrop, and you can use it on devices with any operating system, both mobile and desktop, it even has an official client for Linux if you are a user of this operating system for desktop!

Facetime

FaceTime has many users and is very comfortable to use, and you may not like Skype, since it is more confusing to use, or for any other reason. Therefore we recommend using Google Duo, another of the alternatives that Google itself gives you to make the change less harsh.

Google Duo allows you to make video calls in a simple way, works with the Google account and comes installed in most devices, so you do not have to worry that the person in question does not have an account or does not use it, you can simply call, both video calls, and voice calls over the Internet.

Can be used from any computer from the web browser and from any device, both Android and iOS, in case the recipient of your call has an iPhone.
