Chromecast 2.0 and Chromecast Audio are now official

Audio and video

In reality, Chromecast 2.0 and Chromecast Audio are two very similar devices, although totally different. Similar because they both have the same function, different because one is useful for video, and the other for audio. In general, they are the same as the original Chromecast. In the case of Chromecast 2.0, we will connect it to a television via HDMI, and to the electrical network. In the case of Chromecast Audio, it has a jack socket, and it also includes a jack cable so that we can connect it to any audio equipment, either to listen to music or to sing karaoke. In this case it will also be necessary to be connected to the electrical network. With respect to the original Chromecast, WiFi connectivity has been significantly improved, although the truth is that the most relevant developments are design.

New design

The Chromecast design has changed, and both Chromecast 2.0 and Chromecast Audio will be very similar. The USB memory stick is gone, and it will now be a circular device. In the case of the Chromecast 2.0, it will have an integrated HDMI cable, which also when we do not use it, we can fix it magnetically so that it does not damage or break. It will be available in three colors: black, red and yellow. Chromecast Audio will not have any integrated cable, but a jack socket. The cable will come included with Chromecast Audio, and it is yellow in color but we could use any other. It will only be available in black.

Same price

Although the design is new, and has some improvements, the truth is that the price of Chromecast 2.0 and Chromecast Audio will be the same, $ 35. We do not know how much it will cost in euros, but the logical thing is that it also costs the same, although that is not the case with the Nexus 6P. In any case, the difference would not be so noticeable being so cheap. It must be said that this will be the price for each of the Chromecasts, not for both, but for each of them.
