Moto E4, a basic range with relevant improvements
The Moto E4 is a smartphone that is actually similar to the Moto E3. For example, the two smartphones feature a five-inch screen with an HD resolution of 1,280 x 720 pixels. However, the Moto E4 is a smartphone that has some really relevant improvements. The processor improves a bit, coming to have a MediaTek MT6737M, with four cores, and capable of reaching a clock frequency of 1.25 GHz. It is better than the MediaTek processor but more basic from the Moto E3. In addition, the RAM is 2 GB, instead of the 1 GB RAM of the Moto E3, and it also has an internal memory of 16 GB, being 8 GB in the case of the Moto E3. The two mobiles have the possibility of expanding the memory by means of a microSD card of up to 128 GB.
Those are all the best of the Moto E4 with respect to the Moto E3, because even the two phones have the same camera, the main unit being 8 megapixels, and the front unit 5 megapixels, and being capable of recording in high definition but not in Full HD. The battery, in addition, is 2,800 mAh, which is enough to offer a full day’s autonomy on mobiles with these technical characteristics.
Moto E4 or Moto G4 Play
Of course, in 2016 the Moto G4 Play was also launched. This smartphone was a mid-range Moto G4, but with entry-level features. In fact, if we compare the Moto E4 with the Moto G4 Play we see that they are almost the same phones.
The processor of both smartphones is different. In the case of the Moto G4 Play, the processor is a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410, although the clock frequency of the two processors is almost the same. However, if you have to choose between one mobile or another, the truth is that I would choose the Moto G4 Play because it has a Qualcomm processor. When it comes to using GPS, Bluetooth, or WiFi, the Qualcomm processor offers better compatibility options. Mobile phones with MediaTek processors do not have quality GPS, and there are more errors when connecting with headphones or a Bluetooth speaker, or with a WiFi network.
However, you also have to keep in mind that the Moto E4 is a smartphone released in 2017, while the Moto G4 Play is from 2016. That means that the Moto E4 may receive updates to the Android versions that are released. . For example, the Moto G4 Play has been updated to Android 7 Nougat. However, it is possible that the Moto E4 will receive an update to Android 8.0, although this has not been confirmed.
Both mobiles have the same price. The Moto E4 is launched with a price of about 150 euros, although it will probably be somewhat cheaper when it hits stores, with a price of about 140 euros. And this is precisely the price of the Moto G4 Play currently. If it is confirmed that the Moto E4 is going to update to Android 8.0 it would be one of the cheapest mobile phones that will have an update for the new version. However, both currently have Android 7.0 NOugat as an optional system.
