Facebook, Twitter, Instagram … No user is completely safe from malware or hackers on platforms in which we have spent more and more hours for years. Either for chat, share photos or thoughts, networks take a long time out of our lives. Beyond debates about whether or not it is advisable to spend so much time on these platforms, improve security in social networks it is a simpler utility than we think.
Improve security on social networks like Twitter using two-step authentication
One of the benefits of having 2-Step Verification when logging into Twitter is that, despite the annoyance of always having to rely on a message from SMS or a warning to the terminal, this guarantees that no one will enter your account on the microblogging network without you being aware of it. Also, if your profile is for professional purposes, the more reasons you have to protect it.
To access the verification option at login, with the Twitter app open, go to your menu by clicking on the avatar of your account and click on Settings and privacy. After in Bill and then in Security.
If you still don’t have a phone number associated with your account TwitterYou will see a message asking you to add one. A valid phone number is required to activate login verification.
Once inside Security, click on Login verification and check the box. Accept, to start the registration process, and enter the code that you will receive via SMS. At that moment you will get a security code that is very important that you keep, write down somewhere or save. Do not lose it.
Ready. The next time you log in to Twitter on Android you will receive an SMS with a verification code.
Facebook: how to activate two-step authentication to improve security on this network
On Facebook, the utility is similar: enter the official application, click on the personal drop-down menu (the three lines at the top right) and scroll down to the option Settings and privacy. Click on it and select Security and login.
Once inside Security and login, we click on Use two-step authentication. Similar to the process on Twitter, we wait for a validation code that will arrive by SMS and we activate and follow the steps.
Activate two-step authentication on Instagram to improve network security
Another social network very in contention, perhaps the one that has been the most in recent years, is Instagram. Although at first we might think that this network was focused on photography lovers, the truth is that today it is more populated by quantity than quality and the everyday than artistic. In any case, for this very reason you may not want your account to fall into the wrong hands.
The procedure is similar to what we have done in previous networks. Go to your account tab by clicking on your avatar and in the drop-down menu look at the lower right corner; click on Setting.
In the menu that has appeared, look for the option to Two-step authentication. The same as before: wait for an SMS on your mobile and save a screenshot of the security codes that Instagram will leave you for emergencies in case you lose your mobile or it breaks.
