Firefox Focus adds Quick Access to your favorite sites

Firefox Focus: Mozilla’s other private browser

Mozilla has several browsers in development for Android. Currently, we can find four in your Play Store listing: Firefox, Firefox Beta, Firefox Nightly and Firefox Focus. Also, don’t forget about Firefox Rocket, the ultralight Quantum Lite. With all of them, the company covers a wide range of users.

In general, they all share a common goal: to protect the Privacy user. However, there are two of them, Rocket and Focus, that do it even sacrificing some functionalities. For example, Firefox Focus focuses on erasing all your browsing data every time you close it, even having a dedicated button for it. Because of this, Mozilla only allowed links to be added to the home screen, but not built-in bookmarks. This changes now.

This is the Quick Access of Firefox Focus

In Mozilla they have not decided to offer Quick access in Firefox Focus to ensure that it would not affect the privacy of its users. The method they have finally chosen is based on autocomplete URLs. Basically, by entering a letter in the address bar, it will give you recommendations to go faster. It will do this by supporting two different methods.

The first one is with a general database. This is a selection of 450 popular sites to access, such as Wikipedia or DuckDuckGo. The second is a custom database, in which we can enter the addresses that we want to have on hand. For example, we can add androidayuda.com so that just by typing the initial A, we can go to Android Help first.

These addresses will be added from the new Settings. From there we can also now add new search engines to those who already came standard. Before we had to choose between Google, DuckDuckGo, Yahoo, Twitter and Wikipedia, but now we can add Amazon or even Bing. In this way, customization options that users of this browser have been asking for since its launch a year ago are added.

If you want to try Firefox Focus or any of Mozilla’s other browsers, most are freely available on the Play Store. Firefox Rocket is the exception, and you must download it from APK Mirror:
