Friendly Pix: this is Google’s Instagram in demo form

Friendly Pix: what is it and what is it for?

Friendly Pix is a web app that serves as a demonstration of Firebase, one of Google’s codes to create applications. With this tool you can create all the backend of an application, including data metrics, crash control and general app development.

When Google launches something similar, usually offers various demonstrations that serve to exemplify what they are capable of and offers. It is under this idea that they have launched the progressive web application of Friendly Pix, which could clearly be considered his own approach to Instagram. From Google they warn that it is a mere demo and that it should not be used by sharing private data, but from this link you can access the application and use it as a simplified version of Instagram.

How Friendly Pix works

When entering the link that we have put – which you can use from the mobile without problems – the user will be prompted to register using their Google account or Facebook account. Once you do, the app has three tabs:

  • Home: Here, in chronological order, the photos of the people you follow appear. You can like photos and comments, as well as report abusive behavior.
  • Feed: Like the Explore tab. It offers photos of everyone so that you discover new things.
  • Profile: To view your uploaded photos and edit your details.

It also has a search option to make it easier for you to find your friends. For the rest, it does not have Stories or filters or anything of that style that has become so popular thanks to Snapchat. We are talking here about a much simpler experience, which can even be very striking for the nostalgic users of the old Instagram.

Although Google advises against the regular use of the application, the truth is that it has an iOS version available for download. Some people do bet on using it with a certain frequency, so if you dare, you will find some activity. If Google wanted to bet on its own version of the social network, of course it has already done much of the work.
