Google prepares a scan of your face for its assistant in Android Q

Since its launch, Google Assistant (Google Voice Assistant in Spanish) has voice identification available so that it only makes home to the owner of the phone. Well, you can see that they want to improve this function and take it to another level.

Double-entry facial identification

The new functionality, which will come with Android Q, will work similar to how the Voice Match (check that it is the registered voice of the owner of the phone to use the voice assistant), but that it will also work because if you have the mobile in your hands and want to use it, it will detect your face to make sure you are the one using it, and no other.

This brings us to another point, and that is that although it is something that is fashionable and many of the large mobile phone manufacturers include the function of facial unlocking, as a security method, surprisingly Android stock it does not offer this function as standard.

So logically, if you will be able to use facial id for your assistant, we assume that it will also be for facial unlocking. So maybe, (and quite possibly) we will finally see this functionality in Android natively.

Waiting for news

The details are still very scarce, so we cannot say for sure, but rumors suggest that could be information that will come true.

Which would make sense, since this is something that all manufacturers now implement on their devices, and that Android Stock had already had it (although in a much more primitive way) in previous versions such as Android 4 Jelly Bean or Kit Kat.

This leak has come from APK Teardown AndroidPolice and 9to5Google, whose leaks are usually quite successful. So we are waiting for the leaks and rumors to progress to verify the veracity of these claims, but it seems that things are looking good.

It would certainly be an interesting addition, and an extra security step, having to recognize your face and your voice. Of course, we do not know if it will be separately (that you can use voice and facial detection depends on the moment) or that both or only one have to be used.

We will see how it will be implemented. As we have said, we will see how the subject progresses.

Do you see it as a useful or interesting addition? Leave us your opinion in comments!
