The Olympic Games they become the center of the world for about a full month. And the center of the world in all areas, not only in sports. One sector that tries to take advantage of all the pull is the technological, which for some reason has always been closely linked to sports. Google is the one that wants to take advantage of and launch its mobile payment service, Google wallet, which is currently only available in the United States, throughout Europe. It would thus allow its use to be intensified throughout the duration of the Olympics and to spread.
The problem is that Google is not the only company interested in taking advantage of the pull of Olympic Games in the field of mobile payments. The operators they also want to get into the game with their own collaboratively developed app. Vodafone, Movistar (O2), Orange and T Mobile, form the synergy that aims to create a competitor for Google Wallet, whose objective would also be to be launched for the Olympics.
However, the latter are not doing so well. It is precisely this union that is being investigated by the competent authorities, an investigation that could last a few months, which would make it impossible to launch the application before the Olympics. In addition, we would be talking about the best case, that is, in case it has not been carried out swims irregularly, because if so, the payment application of the operators could fall on deaf ears.
This leaves Google in a good position, since Wallet it could dominate the mobile payment market without competition. In any case, we will soon be able to know more about the launch of Google Wallet in Europe, which should occur within little more than a month.
