Given the huge fragmentation operating system Android, for users the issue of updates it is still a real problem. Google launches a new version, distributes it to manufacturers and they are the ones who, at their own pace, make it reach users, or not. But a recent analysis reveals which manufacturers are more update their mobiles and how long they take to do it. Something really revealing and interesting.
There are two key factors in this study or analysis. On one side is the weather that a brand takes to update for the first time at least one model since Google launched a new version. And on the other hand, the percentage of devices or models which updates, over time. If we look at this second, there is a clear winner and it is Nokia, which launches updates for its entire range of smartphones fulfilling its commitment to its users and standing out, in this sense, as a smartphone brand in a wide market.
The mobile brands that update the most models to new versions of Android
The ‘top’ is as follows, with Nokia at the head and Xiaomi also highlighting. Something curious, because Nokia barely applies modifications to Android Stock while Xiaomi if you have one customization layer really elaborate. And in third position according to the same criteria would be Lenovo closing the podium, while Huawei and Samsung they occupy the fourth and fifth position, respectively.
The brands that take less time to launch new Android updates for their mobiles
But there is another criterion to attend to, as we mentioned earlier. And it’s the time it takes since Google releases a new version of its operating system until a manufacturer releases it for at least one of its smartphone models. It is also an important factor, and according to this criterion things change, although not as much as might be expected. The ‘top’, in this sense, is as follows:
- Lenovo / Huawei / LG
Again, Nokia is the fastest to update, followed by Xiaomi. Other manufacturers such as Lenovo, Huawei and LG take a little longer but they also agree that they are also quite fast to start rolling out their updates. Behind, according to this second criterion, there are manufacturers such as Vivo or Samsung, which close the ‘top 5’, and other brands such as Oppo take much longer to start update your models to new versions of Android.
