Native options for the fingerprint sensor
The first thing to note is that our own smartphone will offer some native options to control our device with the fingerprint sensor. You can use it to unlock your mobile – adding several fingerprints if necessary – or you can use some gestures. Go to Settings and the Gestures option to see the possibilities offered by your terminal:
Fingerprint Quick Actions: add more options
Fingerprint Quick Actions is an application available on the Play Store that allows you to add more options to the fingerprint sensor. Although it does not need root to function, it does benefit from the permissions that are achieved by doing root.
As soon as you install and open the application for the first time, it will give you a series of warnings. The first is that it will give preference to other applications when using the sensor so as not to interfere with other functionalities. The second is that if we clear the application cache, our configuration will be lost. Those are the most important for normal use.
Once we read the notices, we will meet at home. The first thing is to check the Enable Fingerprint Quick Action box. We grant accessibility permissions and we can start using it. The first option is a list of apps to disable Fingerprint Quick Actions when they are running. This will avoid conflicts between multiple programs.
From there we move on to the actions themselves. Under the Single tap group we can choose what happens when the sensor is pressed once. We can also choose to limit this action to registered fingerprints. We can do the same to slide on the sensor or give two touches, worse are experimental functions.
The list of actions that you can do with the sensor are limited and the same for each gesture, but it allows you to be more effective. It’s a matter of seeing what works on your device and checking which options are best for your day to day.
