How to buy a Chinese mobile: choose the model and where to buy it

1.- Choose the mobile you need

There are Chinese mobiles that are bad, that don’t work well. Is a reality. No. It is not the case for all of them. Just some of them. If you buy a very cheap mobile phone with poor technical characteristics, this smartphone will work badly. How to know if a mobile is going to work well or not? Don’t be guided by the number of cores, RAM or processor. Forget all that. The only way to know if a mobile will work well or not is by testing it, and since you will not be able to test it before buying it and you will not be able to return it since you will buy it from China, the best thing you can do is look for opinions about the mobile. Both in blogs, where they have been able to analyze the mobile, as in forums, or in the comments of the blogs themselves. Read opinions of users who have the mobile, and so you will know more or less what you can expect from this smartphone. Again, do not be guided by what is promoted on the mobile, but by the opinions of users who have tried it and that are objective opinions. For example, recently we did an analysis of the Xiaomi Redmi 3 Pro. After having tried it, I can say that it is one of the phones of the year 2016. Of course, within what is its price, of only 160 euros. But I would never have said it without trying it. Now I’m sure how well it works, the shortcomings it has, too, and what the key features of this smartphone are.

2.- Choose where to buy it

Choosing where to buy the smartphone is another quite relevant question. How long will it take to arrive, if the store is trustworthy and they will not deceive you, if the mobile is really going to arrive, if you will have problems in the event of a hardware error in the smartphone … all these questions worry users , and it is normal. There are many stores and we do not want to talk about any of them in this article so that it does not look like a sponsored post. We know more than enough the different stores. I do recommend one thing, that you look for the possibility of paying with PayPal if it is a store, or with AliPay if it is on AliExpress. Why? In case the mobile does not arrive, you can get your money back and open an incident. Stores fear these incidents because their PayPal account could even be closed. In general, a store that does not use PayPal as a means of payment does not give confidence, and therefore no store will want to lose this possibility. With PayPal you will not have to give your card number to the store, only to the payment platform, and it is a trusted payment platform. Note that it was created by Elon Musk, the CEO of the well-known electric car brand Tesla. So to speak, if you don’t trust the store, don’t worry, you can trust PayPal.

Lastly, don’t ask for express delivery. Urgent shipments are managed by transport agencies, customs agents. They take a commission for each of the products they manage in customs. If you ask for express delivery, you will have to pay the customs costs of your mobile. If you don’t ask for expedited shipping, you may have to pay for them as well, but you probably won’t.

3.- Assume what it is to buy a Chinese mobile

And first of all, assume that you are buying a Chinese mobile, with what that implies. That is, you will not be able to go to a store to complain because the mobile is malfunctioning. It will take longer to arrive than it would take to go to a store to buy it. And if you have problems with the language of the mobile, or with the ROM, you will have to install one of these. You can learn, or ask someone who knows to install a different ROM. It is not complicated. In general, the stores already send the mobile adapted to the country to which it is going to arrive. If you order it from Spain, it will come in Spanish if it is available in that language. That shouldn’t be a problem, but it could be. However, you will be buying a mobile with an unbeatable quality / price ratio, which makes up for everything else.
