You already know that we always try to bring you ways to get closer to pure Android. The other day we explained how to block calls with the Google phone app. But it had to be done through root and maybe you don’t want to complicate your life so much. Today we teach you how to get the Google Pixel look without root.
As always the people of XDA Developers, a website where users are usually programmers or developers and offer us what we need for our Android device they bring us this Launcher.
The user Quinny899 has shared this launcher emulating the Pixel experience with Android Pie. We will only have to download and install it. It does not have much complication, but we show you how to do it.
Step 1. Download the APK
Of course this launcher has to be downloaded as an APK. But don’t worry, as always, in Android Help we only offer you secure links.
So let’s go XDA Developers To download it. If you have an older version of a Pixel Launcher (Nougat or Oreo version, for example), you will have to uninstall it This apk does not install over a previous version of the Pixel Launcher.
Once downloaded it’s as simple as installing, you open the download and a screen will appear where you will have to click on install and it will be done.
If it gives an error, maybe your phone is already pure Android or is running an old version of the Pixel Launcher, so you just have to uninstall it.
Step 2. Set as default launcher
Once we have installed it, it will automatically ask us toevencher we want to use as default, we select Pixel Launcher and to use “Always”.
Another way to do it is to go to Settings> Default apps> Home / Launcher (depends on the manufacturer) and select the one we want.
Step 3. Give permissions
Ok, now your phone is running the Google Pixel Launcher. Nice right? Wait, don’t relax yet, if you want to have full integration with the system you have to give permissions to the application.
For this we will have to go to Apps> Pixel Launcher> Permissions and we give it the three permissions it asks for (location, phone, storage).
Now yes, done this everything is in order.
Step 4. Enjoy the Pixel experience
Now you have your Pixel experience on your mobile, see what’s new and customize it to your liking. You have many options, and surely you liked them. It is to go testing and testing!
Will you install it? Do you like your customization layer? Or are you lucky enough to have Android Stock on your phone?
