Check what information Google saves about you
Before showing you how to prevent Google from listening to you when you say OK Google, we invite you to take a look at history of your information that the Mountain View company stores. To do this, you can access My Google Activity with your browser, although you can also use Google’s own Assistant to enter (the link is at the top, just above the searches).
On that website you can see all your information related to Google. To view the audios that have been created every time you said ok google, you must touch where it says Filter by date and product. A little further down the list that is titled Filter by Google Product, you have to check the penultimate option: Voice and Audio.
To finish and apply the filter, click on the magnifying glass icon in the upper right corner. Now you will see all the uses you have made of the assistant appear, through the words OK Google. The data is arranged chronologically, starting with the most recent. Along with each search, you will see a small button to play the audio fragment. If you touch the icon with the three dots, a menu will be displayed in which you can eliminate all voice searches in the Assistant.
Learn how to prevent your Android mobile from always listening
Although Google is quite transparent with this information (in fact, as we have seen it show us without problems), it is legitimate to have certain reservations about it, more than anything because you can never be sure that you are only heard from the Ok Google and not before. Well, for this we show you how to prevent your Android phone from always listening to what you say.
The first thing you should do is enter Settings, go to the section Google and, within it, enter Search. Once inside, you have to find the section of Voice. Next, you must enter the option of Recognition from Voice. Now yes, within this menu you have to disable the option Say “Ok Google” anytime. Doing so will reactivate an option that until then was shaded, that of While driving. Turn it off as well. By following these steps, you will have disabled the Google Assistant.
However, if you still have a question about your privacy, you can do a second thing: remove permission to use microphone to Google. To do this, you must enter the menu Settings and look for the section Applications. Within this section, look for the application of Google and enter the option to manage the Permissions. Once inside, turn off the switch on the Microphone, to prevent the application from accessing it.
Remember that, as we have already said, following these steps disables the Google Assistant, but also Voice Search. In any case, the process is always reversible.
