Gmail has turned fifteen. With this anniversary, Google has released quite a few new features for its leading electronic messaging service. Starting with the app revamp, Gmail has a lot of new features to offer. One of the most interesting is to be able to schedule an e-mail, that is to say that we leave an email prepared and Gmail send it to the recipient whenever we want. That said, we move on to do it step by step.
Schedule an email step by step
The first thing you have to do, obviously, is to have the Gmail application on your Android phone. If you don’t have it yet, we leave a link below.
Good. Once the application is installed, log in with your regular Gmail account. You will be able to see your inbox, outbox and other main folders from the application. But scheduling an email is as simple as following these steps:
- From the inbox, click on the new email option represented by a + symbol located at the bottom right of the screen.
- A new email will open where you can start writing the text, select the recipient, etc. In the upper right part of the email, click on the menu represented by three vertical dots.
- Pressing it will bring up a menu with various options. The first is “schedule shipment.” Click on it.
- Choose one of the strips offered by the application or select the option “Choose date and time” so that it will be sent whenever you want.
That easy! Once programmed, you will be able to see or modify both the email and the time it is scheduled to be sent from the inbox. You will have to click on the menu represented with three horizontal stripes in the upper left part (in the search bar). All your folders will appear: inbox, outbox, drafts … and also a new “Scheduled” folder where the emails you have scheduled will be stored. Easy peasy!
Can I schedule shipments from an Outlook account?
Although Gmail allows you to add other email accounts from other messaging services, you will not be able to schedule shipments from its app. To check it, follow the same steps. Open a new email and try clicking on the upper right menu. You will see that the option to “schedule delivery” does not appear, so you will not be able to do it.
