But first of all. What is a VPN? In case you don’t know a VPN is a virtual private network (Virtual Private Network)In other words, it works like a private network within a public network. It is basically used to browse safely since your physical address is hidden and it is hidden from you in public wi-fi networks.
Another very common use is to virtually change your location data, widely used to change the country where you are (depending on the browser) to be able to visit sites that are not available in your country.
To start using it, for the moment we will need the beta version of Opera, which we can easily obtain from the Play Store.
Opera VPN, operation
To use it we will have to access the configuration, located in the lower left, in the Opera logo button. Once there in settings we will find the VPN in the section of Browser. We have to activate it, we can also click on it to access the configuration.
Once activated we will have the possibility to easily change the region of our location, one of the most common uses for these virtual private networks. It also allows us to bypass the VPN during searches because we get searches more related to our country. And also the option to activate it only for private tabs, which comes by default, so we don’t have to go around activating and deactivating the VPN. When we want to use it, we go to private browsing.
To change the location is as simple as in the section of Configuration> VPN let’s select Virtual location. We have the “optimal” option, which would be the one that Opera considers necessary at all times, or change it to Asia, Europe or America, as it suits you.
If we want to have the complete VPN experience we would have to uncheck the option of Bypass VPN for search, this is how we sail from the region we have marked, although the default language of the results will be that of our system.
The uses of a VPN like Social Network VPN are very wide, not only to falsify our location, but also to change IP’s. And it can be avoided to avoid geographic censorship, improve security, utilities for certain telecommuting or for downloads, etc. You can look for information about all the advantages (and disadvantages) that these networks have to know if the new functionality of operates, will serve you or not.
And you? Do you regularly use a VPN?
