With the arrival of Android 5.0, the latency times in the audio of smartphones and tablets were significantly improved, and thanks to this, the first professional-level music apps begin to arrive on Android. iGrand Piano and iLectric Piano are from IK Multimedia and aren’t exactly cheap, but they are high-end.
It is possible that many of you already know IK Multimedia before for being the manufacturers of the iRig, the best known adapters to connect the guitar to the iPad and the iPhone and to be able to record directly from the Apple device. Well, they are the same who have now launched iGrand Piano and iLectric Piano, two apps with which we can use this instrument that will appear virtualized on the screen to create our own compositions. Of course, these apps are not exactly cheap, but their price goes to 20 euros for each of the applications. In addition, they have 20 different keyboards and configurations with different sounds for each of them. If we want to get the rest of the keyboards, we will have to buy them within the app. By the way, both iGrand Piano and iLectric Piano have a free version, with only four octaves of the keyboard that will allow us to test the app before buying it.
With external keyboards
Of course, and at this price, the applications will also be compatible with iRig external MIDI keyboards, so we can compose songs on the go with the highest quality, thanks to the low audio latency that is achieved with Android 5.0 and the later versions. Keep in mind that they are professional level apps, and the best that musicians who have an Android smartphone or tablet can count on and who want to be able to compose songs on the go. Hence, the price is so high, due to the great quality that can be obtained both when recording songs, and when using the smartphone or tablet of an intermediary device with added effects. The four applications, iGrand Piano, iLectric Piano, as well as their free versions, are now available on Google Play.
