Improve your mobile Internet connection by choosing 3G networks

Why choose 3G networks

4G networks offer us a higher connection speed. That is a reality. But to be able to connect through 4G we need antennas of this coverage nearby. And we need that everywhere we are there are antennas that offer the service with good coverage. And they should be from the same operator. There are operators that offer us service from different operators. Yoigo, for example, offered coverage from Movistar and Vodafone. But changing the network is not good for the battery of our mobile, nor for the stability of the connection.

It is also true that our mobile may not be compatible with 4G networks in the 800 MHz band, for being launched a year ago, or for being a Xiaomi or some other that does not include compatibility with these networks. If the 4G antennas around us work at 800 MHz, for us it will be as if they did not exist.

Simply if we do not achieve stability in the mobile connection through 4G, it may be more interesting to select 3G as the preferred type of connection, since it is most likely that there is a stable 3G connection in our area.

Configured 3G as the preferred network type

Our mobile can be automatically connected to 4G, 3G and 2G networks. However, it will arrive with the option of 4G networks active by default. We can change it to 3G networks. It is no problem. Because if at some point there were no 3G coverage but there was some other network, the mobile would automatically connect to the other types of networks.

To change the preferred type of network, go to Settings, look for the first section of Networks, in which we will see WiFi, Bluetooth and others, and select the option More. It will take us to see all the options of Wireless connections and networks, and here we will have an option that is Mobile Networks. Attention: The process on your mobile phone may be somewhat different to reach Mobile Networks. But it must be similar. Once we are in Mobile networks, we can choose Preferred Network Type, and here choose between 4G / 3G / 2G. The idea is to choose 3G as the standard network.

In rural areas, with certain mobiles, or with certain operators, it can be a good solution to improve the stability of the mobile connection.
