Instagram recovers the chronological order in its beta version
Some years ago, Instagram made a move that he had already made Facebook before: scrapped the chronological order in favor of an algorithm that displayed content that it considered relevant to the user. This caused a mess in the photos that were displayed, which no longer responded to the moment in which they were uploaded. These changes sparked complaints, but Instagram held its ground … until now.
In the beta version of the app, Instagram is starting to show chronological order in your feed again. The user @jackharding he showed it in his Stories of Instagram, with a series of photographs that were arranged from an hour ago to 7 minutes ago in perfect chronological order.
Backtracking by Instagram?
When two years ago Instagram it established the algorithmic order, it did not offer any other option to the users. Either you took it or you left it, but you couldn’t go back to chronological order. The statements from the company also indicated that users were more active thanks to the new order, so there was nothing to suggest that Instagram could back down. During this time, most of the application’s movements have been directed in two directions: continue fighting against Snapchat beating you at your own game and keep improving your chat to increase the reign of Facebook in the sector.
Although at the moment it is only in its beta version, it is a declaration of intentions that Instagram Bet on chronological order again. The best option would be for the user to be able to choose their preferred order, without either of them being forced. This is exactly what it does Twitter, that allows very easily to activate and deactivate its algorithmic order. However, it is clear that for many consumers the chronological order is very important, since it is the one that allows us to be better up to date with what the people we care about share, without the possibility of missing a publication that may be important.
