LG officializes the arrival of Optimus Vu 2, its phablet

The Korean company has confirmed that some specifications remain unchanged, such as its screen of 5 inches with 4: 3 aspect ratio, something that very few terminals currently offer (16: 9 predominates). Also, the Home button is present at the bottom of the front, which is helpful.

One of the enhancing aspects of Optimus Vu 2 is the camera. Now, the new development includes a rear camera of 8 megapixels and a front of 1.3 MPx. They have improved in these components, but it is true that, especially the second, is somewhat scarce for the times.

Much improved hardware

If there is an improvement that stands out above the rest, this is the inclusion of 2 GB RAM. This equates this phablet with Galaxy Note 2, and ensures that all the keystrokes made with its stylus, called Rubberdium Pen 2.0 -and that offers better precision-, they are recognized without problems and can be worked with.

The SoC has also been improved, and is now a Qualcomm model, specifically a Snapdragon S4 MSM8960, which operates at a frequency of 1.5 GHz. A good advance that ensures the necessary performance. By the way, its battery is 2,150 mAh, so its autonomy, on paper, should be wide and, at least, equal to that of the best phablets that exist. NFC, 3G and LTE are also confirmed.

Another aspect that has been confirmed is that Optimus Vu 2 will arrive with the operating system Ice Cream Sandwich. Not bad, but the ideal would have been Jelly Bean, especially considering that everything indicates that LG will manufacture the next Google Nexus. Other novelties regarding the software is the QRemote application, which turns the device into a remote control thanks to IR Blaster connectivity.

The free starting price of Optimus Vu 2 is $ 865 (about € 675), and will be released globally. Of course, the arrival dates to each country have not been indicated. A good advance presented by LG that, at least, will present a battle in the phablet market.
