It seems like yesterday that I unpacked my new smartphone and felt liberated checking its four gigs of internal storage. The squeeze is over after several years locked in the 512 megabytes of my old HTC Wildfire and a new world of applications, videos and possibilities opened up before me that my old partner was unable to bear. Well, time has passed and around me there are people to whom the four gigabytes seem small, devices with 8, 16, 32… gigabytes of storage have appeared and today we bring you the first smartphone with 128 gigs of capacity. Will open Meizu the way to a new generation of phones with even more internal storage?
The first smartphone to have 128 gigabytes of internal memory is the Meizu MX3, a terminal that the Chinese firm has put on sale today, exclusively in its country, and for the operator China Mobile. Still, we can also find it free for 660 dollars – some 488 euros to change -, but we do not recommend that you start importing it from the Far East since its support for the network TD-SCDMA that is used beyond the Great Wall will make it only work at 2G speeds in Spain.
Meizu MX3: A smartphone that could create a trend or just an eccentricity?
For little more than the price of this Meizu MX3 free, we can meet the iPad Mini 128 gigabytes and with screen Retina. Although if you are determined to try this new Chinese device, you might also be interested in purchasing the 32 gigabyte version and include a card Micro SD of 64 gigs. Ok, it would not be 128 but you would end up having more than enough storage.
Anyway, the fact that the launch of this Meizu MX3 being unique to China may make more than one think of the reasons why we have decided to publish this article. In this case, and for a change, we are talking about a terminal that almost certainly will not land in Spain for two reasons: The fact that it is the world’s first smartphone equipped with the aforementioned internal storage and the possibility that it creates a precedent on which other brands are based to launch devices that can reach our borders.
We already know how this market works and in the event that the Meizu MX3 achieve good sales figures in China, it could lead other manufacturers to develop – if they are not already doing so – their own such devices. Speaking of features, we would like to highlight its 15: 9 screen with 1,800 by 1,080 pixel resolution and 5.1 inch and its processor Exynos 5 Octa 5410.
