Prevent your mobile screen from turning off when charging

Screen on when the mobile charges

If we work at a desk and have the mobile on the table, it can be very useful to have the screen always on to be alert in case we receive some kind of notification, an email, or a message. When working at a desk, it is very likely that we can always have the mobile charging, and in these cases, we can also always have the screen on, since, obviously, battery consumption will not be a problem.

The maximum time that a mobile screen can be without turning off is 30 minutes, but the truth is that if we configure the mobile this way, this will be the time it will take for the screen to always turn off when we do not use it. And this is not recommended. Why? Because if we put the phone away and forget to turn off the screen, it will spend 30 minutes using a lot of battery. Ideally, the time in which we have configured the time it takes for the screen to turn off when not using the smartphone is between 15 seconds and 1 minute.

However, we can add an additional setting with which the screen will never turn off as long as it is charging. For this, we have to go to the Development Options. Remember that to activate these you have to follow a specific procedure. If you go into Settings and you don’t see this mode, then you have to activate the Development Options.

Activate development options

Actually the procedure is very simple and we have already explained it other times. You go to Settings, and About the phone. Now you are looking for the option related to the build number, which can have different names. The important thing is that it is the build version. You click on this option seven times and the Development Options will have been activated. If by chance on your smartphone this is not the case, try other options such as kernel version, or system version.

Now, you will find the Development Options in Settings.

Active display

Finally, you only have to go to Settings, and Development options. Activate them with the button in the upper right corner. Searching and finding the Active Display option is really simple, because it is one of the first. Activating this option, the screen will never turn off when the mobile is charging, as long as, obviously, we do not turn it off ourselves.

You have to take into account several things. One of them is that this is useful mainly if we have a dock in which to leave the smartphone to be able to continuously view it when we are working. You can buy one, or even build one yourself simply. And another thing to keep in mind is that the screen is one of the elements that consumes the most battery. This means that if we have the active screen, even when the mobile is charging, the mobile battery will charge more slowly. If we have the battery at 100%, this will not be a problem, but if we need the battery to charge faster, then the ideal would be to turn off the screen. However, we must not forget that although we have activated this option, we can voluntarily turn off the screen in a conventional way on our smartphone.
