Screen and camera
The new screen of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is not surprising. They have finally opted for a 5.7-inch screen. This means that it is still a larger screen than the current high-end smartphones on the market, but without reaching the exaggerations of some smartphones that have screens almost typical of tablets rather than smartphones. Obviously, the screen of the new terminal of the South Korean company will be Full HD, so it will have a resolution of 1920 by 1080 pixels. This is nothing new, as it is common since smartphones that were launched at the beginning of the year, such as the Sony Xperia Z.
The camera, for its part, does not stand out too much, as is often common in smartphones of this type, which are not designed to be specialized in the world of photography. Thus, what we find is a camera with standard optics, but that has 13 megapixels. With this sensor we will obtain photographs with a large number of pixels, but they will not stand out when it comes to the possibilities of professional photography.
But we did not want to leave aside the video camera, which does incorporate considerable improvements over its predecessor, and even compared to many other phones on the market. And, this new Samsung Galaxy Note 3 will carry a video camera that will not only be able to record in Full HD 1080, but will also be able to record in 4K resolution. For those who are not very knowledgeable, this is the next high definition standard that we will have. Only some televisions have these resolutions, and their price is not exactly cheap.
Processor and RAM
The processor will not be manufactured by Samsung. It seems that the South Korean company has decided to opt for a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800, as is the case with the Sony Xperia Z1, and the LG G2. It may have been out of fear that users might consider that Samsung’s processors are not up to par, or simply because the American processor includes a chip for compatibility with LTE networks. The latter also confirms that it will be a smartphone with 4G, as it could not be otherwise in this era of mobile telephony.
Some markets, yes, will have the eight-core version, although most likely Spain is not one of those countries. It will be a 3G version without 4G. If the Galaxy S4 without 4G has not been launched in Spain, the same will probably happen in this case, so the version with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 will arrive here.
RAM, for its part, is the protagonist in this terminal. Finally, after many rumors and leaks, the real RAM that the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 will have will be 3 GB. Although some sources indicated that it would finally be 2.5 GB, the reality is different, and Samsung has opted for a 3 GB RAM. This means that it is one step above all smartphones on the market, absolutely all of them, since none have a RAM of this type.
Regarding the operating system that the new smartphone will have, it will have Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. There are no surprises here. Although the new Android 4.4 KitKat was made official yesterday, the truth is that it will not be any smartphone that has this operating system until the Nexus receive the update, or until the Nexus 5 is launched on the market.
The pointer has been considerably improved, and especially with regard to the applications adapted to it that will exist for them. We are talking about apps like Air Command. This system will enable direct access to other sub-applications developed especially for the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and the S Pen. For example, there is Pen Window. What is it? We draw a window on the screen, and in that window we can run other apps such as the calculator itself. But only in the space that we ourselves have drawn.
Other great features that have stood out at the event is MultiWindow, which will allow us to have several applications running at the same time and showing on the screen simultaneously. There have been improvements over the previous version of Multiwindow. For example, now we can have two windows of the same application. Thus, we can have two different WhatsApp conversations on the screen. And also, we can move elements from one window to the other, something that could be useful in file management.
As the last notable features of the smartphone, we should mention its battery, which will be 3,200 mAh, much higher than what high-end smartphones usually carry, but at the same time it is normal, since it has a larger screen that also implies higher energy consumption. Thus, we can expect a fairly respectable autonomy in this smartphone.
