Sony QX1 and QX30, the mobile camera revolution is here

These two external cameras, which are attached to the smartphone, can be completely revolutionary. Although not so much in the case of QX30, which looks a lot like the two cameras released last year. The main feature of the latter, and hence its name, is that it has a 30x optical zoom, something really remarkable if we talk about a mobile camera. The objective has a range that goes from 24 millimeters to an equivalent of 720 millimeters, allowing us to get a close-up of an object located 40 meters away. A high-level camera, with a 30x optical zoom, and with the ability to reach 60x with digital zoom without losing pixels, although quality is obvious. In this case, it has a 20.4 megapixel sensor. Its price is 300 euros. The best thing is that it is compatible with any Android smartphone thanks to the PlayMemories application, and even, although it is not much to the case here, it is compatible with iPhone.

But the jewel in the crown is without a doubt the new Sony QX1. And it is that this camera does make a difference with respect to what we have seen so far. Have you ever considered using lenses with a smartphone? Well with the new Sony QX1 it is possible. Yesterday we stated that the compatible lenses would be those of the Sony E mount, some with a price of 1,500 euros. But the truth is that it is not only like that, because thanks to the Sony adapter to use A-mount lenses in E-mount cameras, it is possible to use professional lenses with prices that exceed 2,500 euros. However, we are not going to say that this camera is the newest in the world of photography. Yes it is in mobile photography, with a 20.4 megapixel medium format APS-C sensor, but there is still room for improvement. It should be added that it also has a flash and, as in the case of all Sony QX cameras, it is compatible with any Android smartphone on which the PlayMemories application can be installed, and even with iPhone. It can be used with the accessory that allows us to attach the camera to the smartphone, or by placing the camera wherever we want. Thanks to the WiFi it has, the smartphone and the camera communicate and we can visualize on the smartphone screen what the camera captures, just as if it were a digital viewfinder.

The core of the Sony QX1, which includes the sensor, flash, battery, etc … is priced at 300 euros. But to this we must add an objective. We can get a kit that includes the Sony QX1 and a 16-50 mm lens for 450 euros. Although we can also buy any of the other Sony E-mount lenses, or the A-mount lenses if we buy the adapter. And here the price range, as we have said, is immense.
