Far from talking about those boring technical characteristics and others, which tell us a lot, but nothing at the same time, we are going to focus on those characteristics that in the end attract attention. Those characteristics that in the end, when you go to a family dinner, you can tell those people in your family that they would not understand anything about the processor, RAM, or the screen, but that they do understand about characteristics that change your life, even just a little bit.
1.- Samsung Pay
It may be curious that the main feature that we highlight of the smartphone is one that we do not use right now, but the truth is that it is one of the technologies that could change our day to day the most. Samsung Pay is the new payment platform that the company has launched, and that has been found along the way with the purchase of another company, LoopPay, which has allowed us to know some details about how this platform could be, and they have been confirmed now that the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge have been launched.
Basically, Samsung Pay will be based on MST technology, or Magnetic Secure Transmission. What is achieved with this? Pay at any standard POS terminal as if we were carrying a credit or debit card. And make no mistake, it is not necessary for this terminal to be NFC compatible, so all the POS terminals they have at McDonalds, or in any Spanish store, will be valid. How is that possible? The smartphone creates a magnetic field that acts like a credit card that moves through the reader of the POS terminal.
Until now, this technology could be used because LoopPay had launched a series of cases that integrated this technology. However, the purchase of LoopPay has resulted in the inclusion of such technology in the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge. This platform will begin to be used this summer in the United States and South Korea, but we will not need to renew the POS terminals in Spain or anything like that, in such a way that the only thing necessary will be that the platform is activated in Spain to be able to use this in any store in the world.
Undoubtedly, a platform that leaves Apple Pay behind, which has even more complicated its way around the world, and especially its use in countries where there are still many businesses with POS terminals that do not use NFC.
2.- RAW photos
Don’t be fooled by those who tell you that professionals use the iPhone for photographs. Real professional photographers use high-end cameras, especially cameras that can capture images in digital negative, known as RAW. This type of image does not carry compression, nor is it developed, so modifications can be made later on it. Let’s say you keep as much data as possible, and that’s what gives the photographer the most possibilities. Well, one of the great novelties of the Samsung Galaxy S6 is that it will be able to shoot in RAW, something that is achieved thanks to Android 5.0 Lollipop, as it is one of the novelties of the operating system. Of course, the camera application will have new settings, and it will offer us a much greater amount. Even so, let’s not forget that the new feature will allow us to get the most out of the photos when developing them later.
3.- Ultra-fast charging
A technology that could not be missing in a high-end smartphone and that can also change our lives. We only need 10 minutes of charging to get an autonomy of another four hours, or at least that’s what Samsung tells us. We know that it will most likely not be 4 hours in total if we use it intensively. However, it will be easy to get great autonomy with very little time, and it is perfect for times when a battery is vital. Finally, it is worth noting the fact that the battery is fully charged in half the time of the iPhone 6, despite the fact that it has less capacity.
4.- A frame that attracts blows
It is true that nobody wants their smartphones to fall to the ground. There’s no doubt. A fall to the ground could destroy a smartphone. And in the best of cases, it is easy to have a scratch or some very relevant damage to the case. However, breakages when a smartphone is dropped are not accidental. It has been said a lot that sometimes a smartphone falls from the second floor and continues to work without breaking the screen, and sometimes it falls at half a meter and never works again. This occurs because a vital element of the smartphone is the one that has absorbed the blow. The design of the smartphone is the most decisive factor for that to happen or not. In the case of the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, these two have a Gorilla Glass 4 front and back glass, resistant to scratches, but not so much to shocks. It is a crystal after all. However, the frame is metal, and much more resistant. If it falls, the frame will be scarred, but that is much better than seeing a glass broken into a thousand pieces. The design of the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge is made to be the frame, the most resistant element, the one that absorbs the shock, in such a way that the possibility of having a glass broken into a thousand pieces that does not it allows us to even see the screen.
5.- Improved Multiwindow
For me, one of the features that I miss the most in smartphones, being able to be reading a blog post while I see and respond to what my friend’s pesky tells me. Samsung has had the Multiwindow feature on its high-end smartphones for a long time, but the truth is that it was a feature that could be improved. In the new version of the smartphone, their use has been simplified. It is much easier and faster to launch these applications to see several at the same time, and that is to be appreciated, as it will become one of the functions that you will appreciate the most from your smartphone if you finally decide to buy the Samsung Galaxy S6.
6.- S Health
Many users say that it is not worth much because they do not use it, but for me, it is one of my favorite applications. With S Health you can record what you eat every day, the calories ingested. But its food database is so large, you only have to type the food and the brand to find it. For example, if you write Hacendado Orange Juice, you will find this food with all its nutritional value. So you can know what your diet is like. You must do the same with sport. But far from being an application only for notes, the application suggests exercises to do, sets goals, and tells us how our progress is going. A truly useful application to live healthier, and that you will love to teach at family dinners.
