Google Pixel 2 XL canceled
Apparently, Google will not launch the smartphone that would be the new version of the Google Pixel XL, that is, a Google Pixel 2 XL. This mobile could have been the same as the standard version of the Google Pixel 2, but with a screen between 5.7 and 6 inches. However, it will not ultimately be released, it seems.
Two Google phones in 2017
Even so, it seems that Google will launch two phones this year. We said that Google could launch three smartphones in 2017, but with the cancellation of what would be the Google Pixel 2 XL, there will be two new mobiles, as already happened in 2016 with the Google Pixel. That third smartphone, which looked like it would be a new Google mobile that would not actually be any new version of the previous Google Pixels, will now be the second mobile to be launched in 2017. In fact, it was said that the new smartphone Google could have a screen that exceeds even 6 inches.
Thus, it is possible that Google is actually going to launch two new Google Pixel 2. One of them would be the standard, with a screen of about 5.5 inches, similar to the Samsung Galaxy S8, with a screen without bezels, and that almost can be a compact smartphone. Launching such a mobile does not make much sense to launch another mobile with a 5.7 inch screen. That is why the Google Pixel 2 XL could look like the Samsung Galaxy Note 8, which will feature a 6.3-inch screen. Let us bear in mind that screens without bezels result in more compact smartphones, and that is why a mobile that previously had a 5-inch screen today can have a 5.5-inch screen being just as compact. And that a mobile with a 5.7-inch screen, can now have a 6.3-inch screen with the same design.
The new Google Pixel 2 could be launched at the end of August, as it seems that it will be then when the final version of Android 8.0 will be launched, and the logical thing is that the new Google phones will also be launched.
