This year curved screens have become a standard. In fact, Samsung’s flagships have been launched in curved-screen versions. But that is no longer a novelty, now the real novelty is the folding screens. That is, screens that can be folded on themselves. For example, wouldn’t it be great a smartphone that could be folded and used only a section of the screen to see notifications, and be able to unfold that screen to play video games? We even talked about a possible smartphone that became a tablet. It is difficult for that to arrive next year, but folding screens are going to arrive. And they could arrive as early as January. What’s more, a smartphone with a folding screen could be presented even before the end of 2015, like the LG G5. Samsung and LG already have the technology to make smartphones with a folding screen, and even though the LG G5 did not yet have a screen with this technology, it already seems quite clear that in January the Samsung smartphone with said folding screen will be launched.
Cheap smart watches
Smartwatches launched in 2015 are rather expensive. The new watches from Motorola, Huawei, Asus, LG, and Samsung are high-priced, and no inexpensive ones have been released. Cheaper watches will arrive next year. In fact, before the end of 2015, somewhat cheaper watches with Android Wear as the operating system could be presented, as is the case with the Elephone Ele Watch and the Bluboo XWatch. They will be cheaply priced, just over 100 euros, but will include the same functions, or even some more, as watches priced at 300 euros.
There will also be a notable improvement when it comes to screens. Specifically, it is most likely that the screens of the flagships will begin to be screens with 4K resolution. If not already in the Samsung Galaxy S7, which will be launched in January, probably yes in the phones that are launched in the second half of 2015. This screen resolution will already be a notable improvement over Full HD screens. In fact, we are talking about four times the resolution of a Full HD screen, which is something really remarkable.
Fast charging on all mobiles
The autonomy of mobile phones remains the same as years ago, few have autonomy of more than a full day. However, the great novelty is the technology thanks to which it is possible to charge the battery at high speed. So far, this technology has been present only in high-end mobiles. However, in 2016 we are going to see it in mid-range mobiles and even in basic-range mobiles. This is a real novelty, because in reality the possibility of charging the battery in less than an hour, or of charging a part of it in a very short time is something that must be highlighted.
Autonomous smart watches
For smart watches to be really useful, they would have to be able to replace smartphones. Perhaps not in all cases, but yes in some of them. For this, they first have to be autonomous watches, and this is not common. Almost all watches are still dependent on smartphones. And for that not to happen, not only is new hardware necessary, such as a SIM card reader, or even a virtualized SIM with a 3G modem, but it is also essential that new software arrives. Both Android Wear and Apple’s watchOS must include new features that aim to make smartwatches completely autonomous. Next year a new version of Android Wear will be launched that will already have news of this type, something logical if we consider that the latest LG Watch Urbane 2 will already arrive in an autonomous version. But in addition, a new Apple Watch will also be launched, and this would be one of the most relevant news.
