We start with your design. Of course, it is a very interesting terminal both and that follows the line of previous high-end products of the manufacturer, adding some details such as the curved design to make it much more ergonomic and comfortable in the hand, the aluminum as the main manufacturing material, his just 7.9 millimeters thick and a weight of 185 grams. On the front, how could it be otherwise, highlights an incredible 6-inch screen with Full HD resolution 1080p perfect to enjoy all the multimedia content we want, although we can also see how the company has decided to minimize the side bezels as much as possible, leaving an almost imperceptible space between them and the screen, not so much at the top or bottom due to the speaker integration.
Of course, what is more than clear to us is that it is a phablet and that it competes directly with the recently presented Galaxy Note 4. The Huawei Ascend Mate 7 will hit the market with Android 4.4 KitKat and, following Google’s recommendations, it has decided to integrate the virtual buttons into the screen as was customary in this manufacturer’s terminals, as happened with the Ascend P7. However, the custom layer of Huawei EMUI 3.0 could not be missing with a more attractive design that allows practically perfect use of the terminal with one hand.
On the other hand, the back of this terminal has also been taken care of in detail, although the most important novelty lies in the inclusion of a fingerprint reader just below the camera, which we will talk about later, which will allow us to unlock the terminal but in a single pass single touch, unlike its competitors, the Galaxy S5 and iPhone 5S, in which we must make a sweep. You can even make purchases online with total security thanks to the different agreements that Huawei has achieved with Paypal and Aliplay, as we indicated some time ago.
As if that were not enough, this sensor is capable of recognizing fingerprints in 360 degrees and, most importantly, tboth dry and wet, so it won’t be a problem if we go for a run and have a bit sweaty hand, or even if we go to the pool. If we wish, the phablet has a “visitor” mode with which we can gscratch the footprint of different people and grant them permissions depending on who it is: our son, a friend or your partner. Of course, everything will be secured to the maximum thanks to the Secure OS protection to prevent third-party access.
Regarding the technical specifications, the Huawei Ascend Mate 7 integrates a HiSilicon Kirin 925 eight-core processor with four 1.8 GHz and four 1.3 GHz cores, that is to say, that it has once again opted for a self-made SoC that, among other things, allows the terminal to be LTE-A (Cat. 6). To this we must add 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal memory, which ensures a more than correct operation when running applications and games. On the other hand, the terminal will reach the market with two cameras: the back with a 4th generation 13 megapixel Sony BSI sensor with LED flash and the lead with a 5 megapixel sensor with 5 non-spherical lenses, which gives us an idea of the great quality that we will have when taking the famous selfies. Besides, the 4,100 mAh battery It has a Live Power + technology that guarantees up to 2 days of autonomy -yes, all this incorporated in a terminal that is barely 7.9 millimeters thick-.
Finally, we must highlight that the Huawei Ascend Mate 7 will arrive with a good number of accessories such as a smart leather case and headphones called UltimoPower that can be charged directly from the device and that have active noise cancellation. Will be available from the third quarter of 2014 for a price of 499 euros.
