So says Huawei. Your smartwatch, the Huawei Watch, will be the first Android Wear smartwatch with which you can make calls. This is thanks to the fact that it includes a speaker that will be activated with the next version of the operating system, and not only will we be able to speak through the clock, but we will also be able to listen to what they tell us.
Make calls from the smartwatch
For smart watches to be really useful, they have to be completely autonomous. That is, they do not have to depend on having to carry a smartphone or a Bluetooth headset to make a call. Until now, no smart watch has the option to make a call as we can call with a mobile phone. And according to Huawei, the Huawei Watch will be the first smartwatch with Android Wear with which you can make a call. And is that the clock includes a speaker with which we can listen to those who speak to us. Android Wear is not yet compatible with speakers in smartwatches, although it will be with the next update. It will also be useful to configure alarms, or alerts by notifications.
However, a relevant problem remains. And it is that although we can use the watch to talk and listen to what they tell us, the truth is that the watch will continue to require a Bluetooth connection to a smartphone to be able to connect to mobile networks, so at the end of the day We are not talking about an autonomous watch, depending on the smartphone to make the call.
Perhaps some of the smart watches that are launched in 2016 already have enough functions to be autonomous smart watches, which do not depend on the smartphone. So far, the watches that have come to resemble something like this most have a problem, battery consumption, and their large size (also because they require a battery of a higher capacity, as well as the installation of a mobile connectivity modem, and SIM card). We will see if 2016 is the year of smart watches as we said this week.
