Knowing minimally some English, we can intuit what it is already about. It consists of a launcher that has a particular way of distributing the main screen of the terminal. Not only that, but it allows you to customize it to absolutely barbaric limits. We are going to gut what this great application hides.
What’s Wide Launcher about
It is an app that works like a normal launcher, but deep down, it has no current at all. One of its most outstanding features is that it unites all the screens of the home main in one, leaving a fully panoramic desk. In addition, you have the possibility of adding many on-screen elements to that desktop, making it highly customizable.
The app takes advantage of all the space on the desktop, since the widgets or the panels where we place the shortcuts allow be modified in size or position, so that the entire desktop can be used with different combinations. The wallpaper, how could it be otherwise, is one that unifies all the sections.
Delving further into the Wide Launcher interface, it leaves a lower bar to place some shortcuts that we can choose from. Of course, in the center there will be an immovable one, since it is the Wide button, which gives us access to a quick menu to enter the different options that the launcher offers us. For example, we can modify the wallpapers from that menu, select a tone from its color palette, customize app icon settings or enter the settings.
Customize Wide Launcher’s panoramic desktop
Obviously, what stands out the most is this unification of all the desktops that we normally have in our terminal, into one. That makes everything work from that area, with almost no need to enter the application box. The launcher itself already does the dirty work for us, since its artificial intelligence generate folders divided by apps automatically, in addition to certain widgets that we can use on a day-to-day basis.
One of them is notes, which appears integrated into the desktop as a blank canvas, we write and instantly the visual change is made. It also saves a section where it generates those folders divided by type of application. It also creates other useful widgets such as a mini image gallery, among many other elements that can be integrated.
These elements are not immovable objects that cannot be changed position or size, but are fully customizable. In other words, icons or folders are not selected individually here, rather what we select are grouped panels that can be modified in different ways. In fact, we can even place the panels in an inclined way, since it is possible to customize the rotation of the same.
Themes to bore in Wide Launcher
And what we could not ignore is the huge amount of topics to customize the wallpaper. We must remember that, being a desktop with panoramic views, there is no place for any image or background, so we have to stick to those that the app has exclusively designed. This might seem like a negative point, but once we enter the catalog, we have a totally different opinion.
If we click on the section «Topics» of the Wide button, we will enter a kind of forum where different users are uploading their works, so it also leaves room for creativity. In this way, we have a large selection of themes that not only modify the wallpaper, but also has its own distribution of apps and widgets. Anyway, we always have a preview to check how it would look in our terminal with what we have installed.
In return, all this fresh air has some handicaps, and it is that we notice a lack of fluidity in performance from the terminal once we apply this launcher. It is still a somewhat crude app, considering that it is a new app and that it has not been running that long.
