The Samsung Gear S2 will be the new smartwatch with which Samsung wants to compete with the Apple Watch, and with Android smart watches. However, it could include functions that are not present in these, thanks to the fact that it would have a SIM card with which to connect to the Internet.
A watch with a SIM card
The Samsung Gear S2 will not be just any smartwatch. Samsung has already said that it would not release the watch until it was as perfect as possible. And the truth is that if we consider that we believed that the watch would arrive with the Samsung Galaxy S6, and it has not yet been launched, not even with the Samsung Galaxy Note 5, it seems clear that, in effect, Samsung is complying with what claimed about the new Samsung Gear S2. Specifically, the new information that comes to us about the smart watch is that it will have the possibility of using a SIM card. Thanks to this, of course, the smartwatch will be able to connect to the Internet and mobile networks. Logically, this will allow us the Samsung Gear S2 to be a fully autonomous smartwatch. That is, we will not need a smart smartphone for the watch to have all its functions. In addition to this, the watch would also have WiFi, so we can say that it will be completely independent of the smartphone.
Of course, this would also lead to a Samsung Gear S2 that would be more expensive. And if we take into account that it is very similar to the Samsung Gear S, and in addition to that, the price of the Apple Watch, it is easy to conclude that its price will be between 450 and 500 euros, a price that could not be lower into a smartwatch that will be Samsung’s highest-end, rivaling Apple’s great smartwatch. It seems that smart watches, far from being cheaper, are going to be more and more expensive.
