The messaging system is one of the most used in the world to communicate, at least in the entire West. Now where do you make money WhatsApp to survive? Let’s not forget that you have to maintain servers, you have to pay your staff, you have to buy tools to improve the application, etc. All of those things cost money, but few have paid to use WhatsApp. It is not unusual, therefore, that some measure has to be taken in the service. Obviously, this will be charging users for the use of it, annually.
Actually, this is not new, since from the very beginning it was announced that it would work like this. They only gave us the first year. However, afterwards they have renewed year after year, until the situation has become untenable.
The last measure they have taken can be seen in the update of the Android application, and is that they have included among the improvements the implementation of the Google in-app payment system. That is, now we can buy an annual subscription to WhatsApp in the same way that we buy an application. Of course, for now, all they have done is introduce this option, which does not imply that they will charge.
It seems logical that if they have taken this measure it is because they want to make the system pay in the near future. If not, the only thing they do with these changes is to stoke the angry masses. Most likely they are waiting for all the Line fever to pass, to make the system pay. At the end, when one morning we get up and go to meet a friend of ours to play paddle tennis, we will open WhatsApp, and it will tell us that we have to renew by paying a small amount, and instead of looking for other applications, we will pay quickly and continue using it. That is what the majority will do, and what will push the other minority to end up doing it.
IOS users, for their part, get rid of this payment almost with total probability. Those who have bought the application, which are all iOS, for a price of 0.89 euros, have achieved that their account becomes 10 years, and will not have to pay until that period passes.
