The Samsung Galaxy A5 (2016), the version launched this year, has joined the list of smartphones compatible with the company’s mobile payment platform, Samsung Pay, which is already available in our country. That means that all Spanish users who want to pay with their mobile in Spain will no longer need a premium-level Samsung, but will now be able to pay with a mid-range mobile, such as the Samsung Galaxy A5 (2016).
We knew that Samsung Pay was going to start reaching more smartphones on the market. And it is that until now it was only available for the flagships of the company. It did not have much logic considering that the goal was for it to become a popular platform among all Samsung users, and that in theory, to work, it only requires one feature as far as hardware is concerned, and that is NFC. . It is true that the flagships also have a magnetic field communication technology, but Samsung Pay is compatible with both technologies so any smartphone with NFC can be compatible with this platform.
The Samsung Galaxy A5, the first of the non-premium
Thus, the Samsung Galaxy A5 (2016) is the first of Samsung’s non-premium smartphones to have compatibility with this platform. Since the platform was officially launched in Spain on June 2, it has become the only mobile that is not of the highest range with which to pay through Samsung Pay. And that means, in turn, that more Samsung mobiles compatible with this platform will arrive. There was even talk of it being launched for mobiles from other brands. Probably, that is something that we will not see for a while, until there are more company phones with Samsung Pay, but we will see if it does not take long to be available for other smartphones.
